At Flair Dance Company, proper attire helps create the best environment for learning, safety, and self-expression. If you need any assistance with dress code, please let us know. We ask all dancers and parents to follow these guidelines. These requirements are only for kids classes and programs.

General Requirements

• Hair must be pulled back securely for every class. A bun or ponytail is preferred. If your dancer has shorter hair, it should still be secured away from the face.

• Dance shoes specific to the style are required for safety and proper technique.

• Jewelry should be kept to a minimum to avoid injury or distraction.

• Apple Watches and smart watches are not permitted during class.

• Students ages 7+ may wear warm-ups for the first 15 minutes of class only.

• No sports bras or tops that leave the midriff exposed. Crop tops are permitted when worn with high-waisted bottoms that provide appropriate coverage.

• No jeans, skirts, or dresses. The exception is a traditional ballet skirt worn over ballet attire for ballet class.

• No costumes or costume pieces unless specifically requested by a teacher for a class, rehearsal, or special activity.

• Clothing should be comfortable, secure, and appropriate for movement. Avoid clothing that is excessively loose, restrictive, or revealing.

• Students not dressed appropriately for class may be asked to sit out until they are able to participate safely.

 

Acro

• Fitted leotard or dance top with leggings or shorts (no loose clothing).

• Bare feet.

• Hair must be securely pulled back to avoid interference during tricks and tumbling.

Ballet

• Girls: Leotard (any color), pink ballet tights, pink ballet shoes, hair in a bun.

• Boys: Fitted t-shirt/tank (any color), black dance pants or shorts, black or white ballet shoes.

 

Contemporary

• Girls: Leotard or fitted top, leggings or dance shorts, bare feet, hair away from face.

• Boys: Fitted t-shirt/tank, dance pants or shorts, bare feet.

 

Creative Movement (Ballet Attire)

• Girls: Leotard (any color), pink ballet tights, pink ballet shoes, hair secured back.

• Boys: Fitted t-shirt/tank, black dance pants or shorts, black or white ballet shoes.

 

Hip-Hop

• Comfortable dancewear (leggings, sweatpants, tank tops) and clean, non-marking sneakers reserved for dance use only.

 

Jazz

• Girls: Leotard or fitted dance top, jazz pants/leggings, tan or black jazz shoes, hair away from face.

• Boys: Fitted t-shirt/tank, jazz pants/shorts, tan or black jazz shoes.

Jazz/Tap Combo

• Girls: Leotard or fitted dance top, jazz pants/leggings, hair away from face.

• Boys: Fitted t-shirt/tank, jazz pants/shorts

• Both jazz shoes and tap shoes are required for every class.

Mini & Me / All By Myself

• Comfortable, movement-friendly clothing.

• Bare feet or socks.

Modern

• Girls: Leotard or fitted top, leggings or dance shorts, bare feet, hair away from face.

• Boys: Fitted t-shirt/tank, dance pants or shorts, bare feet.

Musical Theatre

• Girls: Leotard or fitted top, jazz pants/leggings, tan or black jazz shoes, hair away from face.

• Boys: Fitted t-shirt/tank, jazz pants/shorts, tan or black jazz shoes.

Tap

• Girls: Leotard or fitted top, tap pants or leggings, black tap shoes, hair away from face.

• Boys: Fitted t-shirt/tank, tap pants or shorts, black tap shoes.​​
