What is Flair Dance Company all about?

Led by Creative Director Christina Dunnington, Flair Dance Company focuses on providing professional, performance-based opportunities and high level dance education to dancers of all ages and backgrounds.

We encourage and push dancers to be the best versions of themselves, in and out of the studio!

We are always striving to share our unique flair!

Christina Dunnington

Owner & Creative Director

Christina received her B.F.A. in Dance Performance & Choreography and B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from Towson University. While at Towson, Christina focused her training on ballet and modern techniques, working with artists like the renowned Linda Denise Fisher-Harrell and Runqiao Du. During her summers, Christina attended programs to continue her training, such as Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, and completed an Internship with AileyCamp Baltimore that exposed her to the world of Arts Administration.

After graduating, Christina began to freelance dance, present choreography, and dive into teaching in the Philadelphia area. While doing so, she completed an Arts Administration internship with FringeArts Philadelphia and eventually worked as the Development and Communications Coordinator at BalletX for two years. Christina also became a 200 RYT, completing her Yoga Certification in 2020. Now, Christina teaches the wonderful students at Diana Alexis Dance Academy, working mainly with their competition team. But you can catch her guest teaching all over NJ!

In 2021, Christina co-founded what was originally the Flair Dance Festival. Feeling the potential power of this organization, she decided to expand on the idea and eventually create Flair Dance Company.

Since then, Flair Dance Company has presented 3 Flair Dance Festivals, showcasing over 50 choreographers and 350 dancers to over 1,000 audience members in the span of three years! Additionally, Flair Dance Company recently debuted its first ever Christmas show, Cracked Nuts, in 2022 at two sold out shows. This year, Cracked Nuts will be performing three nights in December at the one and only, Suzanne Roberts Theatre, in Philadelphia, PA.

Over the past year, Flair Dance Company has provided high level dance training to roughly 100 dancers through the launch of the Training Programs, Adult & Young Dancer Hip Hop Crews (Sparks & Embers), and multiple drop in classes for adult dancers. Christina is so excited for Flair’s new dance home, in Collingswood, NJ, where she will continue to offer high level dance education to both Young Dancers & Adults.

Christina is so proud and grateful to be able to lead this organization and bring dance to so many different people. She is passionate about the mission of Flair to provide performance opportunities to all types of dancers. She is committed to encouraging dancers to be the best version of themselves inside and outside of the studio, pushing them to share their unique FLAIR. Her mantra she’s been following is “Be Brave. Be Kind. Be You!”

Casey Van Newenhizen

Casey Van Newenhizen grew up training in classical ballet in South Jersey. She then went on to receive her B.A. in Dance with a concentration in Pre-Physical Therapy at Stockton University. While at Stockton, Casey trained in modern and ballet and worked with artists such as Rain Ross, Bryn Cohn, and Meredith Rainey.

After graduating, Casey began to freelance dance and present choreography in the Philadelphia area.  She also became certified in Pilates through the Drexel Pilates Training Program, which emphasized her love of movement and anatomy.

Casey has been a part of Flair since the first Flair Dance Festival in 2021 when she performed in the show as a dancer. After that show, she knew it was something she wanted to be a part of. In 2022, she debuted as a choreographer for the Flair Dance Festival, presenting her work “Try a Little Tenderness.” More recently, she presented her work “Got to Give it Up” at the 2023 Flair Dance Festival.

Casey was a part of the Artistic Team for Flair Dance Company’s debut of “Cracked Nuts” in 2022. She worked as a key leader for the success of the show, wearing many hats such as choreographer, teacher, costume designer, administrative organizer, and much more. Casey will be a featured choreographer in the 2023 rendition of “Cracked Nuts” performing at The Suzanne Roberts Theatre in Philadelphia, PA.

Casey also assisted in organizing and executing the 2023 Flair Jr. Program, as well as the Company’s Training Programs; leading different groups of dancers through technical training and performance opportunities. Casey is excited to be teaching at Flair Dance Company’s new studio on Wednesday nights!
